Asia NOW

Monnaie de Paris, 19 - 24 October 2026

Paris, France – Leila Heller Gallery, New York and Dubai, is pleased to present a selection of paintings and works on paper by Morteza Khosravi at ASIA NOW 2026, the Parisian art fair dedicated to contemporary art from Asia and its wider cultural contexts.

Bringing together works created between 2019 and 2026, the presentation spans several bodies of work, including Déambulation, Déesses terrestres, Photos souvenirs, Nature morte, Table flottante and Reflect. Moving between figurative imagery, still life and more ambiguous compositions, the selection reveals the breadth of Khosravi’s practice and his sustained investigation into the possibilities of painting.

Khosravi draws upon a diverse range of visual sources, including live models, personal and archival photographs, still-life objects and cinema. Rather than simply reproducing these references, he transforms them through an intuitive process of construction and destruction, concealment and revelation. The interplay of drawing, colour, texture and surface becomes central to the development of each image, allowing the work to evolve beyond its
initial point of departure.

Working across oil on canvas, oil on cardboard, and ink and metal-point drawing on paper and cardboard, Khosravi approaches each material as an active participant in the making of an image. His works often move between recognition and ambiguity, where figures, objects and spaces emerge through layered surfaces and shifting visual relationships.

The different series presented at ASIA NOW reflect an ongoing dialogue within his practice. Images and compositional approaches reappear across works made years apart, taking on new forms and opening up further possibilities. Rather than following a linear progression, these bodies of work develop along parallel paths, occasionally intersecting while remaining open to continued exploration.

Through this presentation, Leila Heller Gallery highlights Khosravi’s understanding of painting as both a medium and a way of thinking. Across changing subjects, scales and techniques, his work returns to a central question: how can an image be constructed, transformed and continually reimagined through the act of painting?
