Accented, Curated by Murtaza Vali Through May 16, 2015 Maraya Art Centre Sharjah, UAE The exhibition’s theme originates in the premise that the ‘accent’ acts as an “enduring sign or figure of cultural difference in the age of globalisation”. ‘Accented’ approaches the accent as far more than a purely linguistic phenomenon. It examines how processes of intercultural translation extend well beyond the limits of language, into the realm of images, spaces, sounds, and smells, and into interior décor and fashion trends.
