Dale Chihuly American, b. 1941

Dale Chihuly, born in Washington State, is a pioneering American glass artist who transformed the medium through nearly six decades of innovation. Founder of the RISD glass program and co-founder of the Pilchuck Glass School, he has shaped generations of glass artists. Known for his monumental installations, Chihuly began with intimate glass weavings before evolving into large-scale, architectural works that have made him the world’s most prominent glass sculptor. Chihuly’s work is included in over 200 museum collections on a global scale.
